Russian media attention: China equips "Tiangong" with "self-defense robots"!
If an unknown object approaches, the robot can intercept and drive it away!
On May 30th, Russian media published an article.
According to researchers, if an unknown object approaches China's Tiangong space station or other key space infrastructure, a small robotic device will be able to identify the intruder and push it to a safe distance.
The new system will also protect Tiangong from space debris and potential collisions with other spacecraft.
The interest of major countries in developing dual-use satellites has forced them to take measures to prevent uninvited guests from entering orbit.
In China, plans are underway to build small tug satellites for this purpose. The recently announced mission is to equip the Tiangong space station with similar satellites to eliminate the threat of dangerous approaches by extraterrestrial objects.
Russian media pointed out that in 2021, China's Tiangong space station faced two dangers of collision with space debris. China filed two complaints with the United Nations regarding US actions. In one case, independent sources confirmed that the distance between a Starlink satellite and the Tiangong space station was only 3 kilometers.
Russian media said that at that time, changing the trajectory of the incoming object was impossible, and evading was the only option.
But now, if an unknown object approaches China's space station or other key space infrastructure, it may be possible to use a small robot to catch it and push it to a safe distance.
The United States, Japan, Russia, and China are all developing space tugs, service satellites, and inspection satellites.
Russian experts said: The use of weapons in orbit is unacceptable - it will have adverse effects on all participants in the process.
But regardless, uninvited guests must stay away from national facilities.
