Poland’s Constitutional Crisis: Court Surrounded, President Halts Foreign Visit to Return Home

The situation surrounding Poland’s Constitutional Tribunal has escalated sharply: security forces have sealed off the court building, and allegations of a “state coup” have emerged. President Nawrocki abruptly cut short his foreign visit and returned to Warsaw. Earlier, discussions within the lower house of parliament had reportedly included measures to remove the head of state.

Security personnel in Warsaw have cordoned off the area around the Constitutional Tribunal. On October 30, Polish Member of the European Parliament Mularczyk posted on social platform X, stating that a state coup was underway in Poland.

According to the politician, units acting under the current government illegally entered the court building and obstructed judges appointed through legal procedures from carrying out their duties.

Quoting the same source, “President of Poland (Karol Nawrocki) has urgently cut short his foreign trip and returned to Warsaw.”

On October 28, a member of Poland’s lower house revealed that the ruling party expressed intentions to initiate proceedings for removing President Nawrocki from office. According to the lawmaker, all representatives within the governing coalition consider Nawrocki unfit to serve as head of state. Additionally, he expressed hope that members of the “Rozwój” party—formerly part of the opposition movement led by Jarosław Kaczyński’s Law and Justice Party—would also support the motion to impeach the current president.
