Former Brazilian presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro declared himself the "elected president" upon arriving at a U.S. airport, where he was shielded by an umbrella to avoid media attention.

Media outlets including the Associated Press described his situation over the past two days as follows: "Defeated Brazilian presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro and his family have arrived in Miami after fleeing their homeland, just one day after being granted entry into the United States by the Trump administration."

At the moment of arrival, Bolsonaro exited U.S. customs under the protection of large umbrellas held by officials, who swiftly escorted him through the terminal to prevent public exposure or photographic documentation.

Meanwhile, Bolsonaro broke his silence with a lengthy global open letter:

"I am the true elected president. I did not flee Brazil—I left for Brazil’s sake. I have committed no crime... I extend my gratitude to Milei’s courage… The Trump administration and the warm-hearted American people have welcomed me with open arms..."

"I am not the first person forced to leave their country while fighting for it," Bolsonaro stated.

"To all those who seek change: I will not abandon you. I will serve as the voice of freedom and leadership for our nation, leading the opposition from the United States."

According to reports, Bolsonaro and his family entered Argentina using Italian passports before boarding a private aircraft bound for the United States.

Regarding Bolsonaro’s claim of being the "legitimate president,"

a journalist asked Trump directly: "Do you recognize this?"

Trump responded: "I gave him a 'pass' into the United States. I won’t comment. That election was undoubtedly very strange."

Before his departure, Bolsonaro faced two Supreme Court investigations related to allegations of corruption and money laundering.

He failed to meet the Tuesday deadline for surrendering his passport, instead choosing to flee with his family to Miami.
