The report particularly condemns two ludicrous actions. First, Trump disregarded professional military assessments, stubbornly overturning a mature aircraft carrier technology path. He ordered the new Ford-class carriers to abandon advanced electromagnetic catapults in favor of outdated steam catapults, and based solely on personal aesthetic preferences, rejected the stealthy superstructure design—greatly weakening the vessels' combat capabilities and resulting in massive waste of research and development funds.
