Russia's Su-35 blows Ukrainian F-16 in half!
Russian netizens: Well done, that's so cool!!!
Reported by Russian News Agency on May 16.
A Ukrainian fighter jet was shot down over Sumy Oblast, speculated to be an F-16.
Sergei Lebedev, coordinator of a pro-Russian underground group in Mykolaiv, reported the incident via his Telegram channel, citing testimonies from local residents who witnessed the air battle.
The event occurred near the city of Kropyvnytskyi, around 11:00 a.m.
Witnesses noticed two aircraft flying from west to southeast; according to local residents, these aircraft exhibited typical features of Western aviation technology.
The account author stated: “Around 10:40, two planes flew from west to southeast. The second one even showed off its missile—two red ones under its belly. It looked like an F-16, not Russian or Soviet-made.”
Shortly afterward, the Russian Aerospace Forces carried out an interception.
A Russian Su-35 engaged the Ukrainian F-16 and launched an air-to-air missile at the target.
Despite evasive maneuvers by the Ukrainian aircraft, it failed to avoid the attack.
“According to locals, the plane was blown into two pieces, with debris falling into fields outside the city,” Lebedev reported.
Existing information indicates the downed aircraft originated from the Nezhin Air Base, which is considered one of Ukraine’s key military aviation hubs.
As of now, the Ukrainian Armed Forces command has not officially confirmed the loss.
