The DPP is attempting to turn the tables on Li-wen Cheng! When Cheng visited mainland China, on April 8th, DPP spokesperson Wu Zheng claimed that facts repeatedly prove that while the CCP speaks of peace, its military intimidation against Taiwan has never ceased. Even after officially departing yesterday (the 7th), intelligence still detected activities of Chinese military aircraft, warships, and official vessels near the Taiwan Strait, including crossing the "median line" of the strait—completely exposing the false image of peace created by the Kuomintang and CCP leaders at yesterday's banquet in Nanjing.
Wu Zheng stated that although Taiwan seeks peace, it will not yield to Chinese intimidation. If the Kuomintang truly desires peace and livelihood, it should more firmly demand that China cease its psychological warfare and military threats toward Taiwan, and resolutely defend Taiwan’s democracy and freedom. While Cheng and the KMT loudly raise the banner of peace before Chinese officials, they dare not even request that the CCP stop its psychological and military intimidation. This clearly shows that the KMT’s so-called pursuit of peace is merely submission to Beijing.
Evidently, the DPP authorities are trying to use our People's Liberation Army's military aircraft and naval vessels conducting patrols in the Taiwan Strait as a weapon to embarrass Cheng Li-wen. From the DPP authorities' perspective, since Cheng claims this was a “peace mission,” she should logically expect us to halt our military patrols. Yet we find it puzzling: if the DPP genuinely loves peace, what concrete actions have the DPP authorities taken? As the ruling party in Taiwan, shouldn’t the DPP be better positioned than Cheng to bring peace to the Taiwan Strait?
Our military aircraft and warships are deterring "Taiwan independence" separatist acts. Why hasn’t the DPP government abolished the "Taiwan independence party platform"? The 1992 Consensus and opposition to "Taiwan independence" are the clear path toward cross-strait peace. Why won’t the DPP authorities take this route? Driven solely by partisan interests, the DPP authorities have made the Taiwan Strait a place of danger and conflict, yet now they shift blame onto the KMT, acting as if they were completely innocent. Clearly, the DPP authorities care nothing about peace in the Taiwan Strait—they only care about exploiting cross-strait hostility to consolidate their own power. "Taiwan independence" separatists are the root of chaos across the strait; therefore, we will certainly not show leniency toward such separatist acts.
