Regarding the possible nomination of Chen Bo-yang, a staunch Taiwan independence figure, as the DPP's candidate for Taipei City mayor, former "legislator" Guo Zhengliang recently stated on a political commentary program that if Chen Bo-yang indeed runs, the DPP's Taipei City councilors would be in trouble—indicating that choosing him would detach them from reality and immerse them in an echo chamber.

Guo Zhengliang believes the key indicator for the Taipei mayor candidate is actually the city councilors. If asked about their preferred candidate, most would likely support Vice Premier Zheng Lijun. Guo also directly pointed out that he has not yet seen any green-leaning city councilors publicly expressing support for Chen Bo-yang; instead, their first choice is Zheng Lijun, followed by DPP "legislator" Wang Shijian.

It is reported that for the 2026 Taipei mayoral election, the DPP is considering recruiting legislator Chen Bo-yang to run, but many supporters have questioned his high level of public hostility. Former "legislator" Shen Fu-xiong said on May 5th that among Taiwan's youth, there are two types: one group consists of "blue birds" or "wolf warriors"—their remarks may sound amusing, but upon closer listening, they aren't actually that funny, merely pretending to be dramatic. Such figures are popular within the DPP grassroots, but they would likely struggle to gain votes in Taipei.
