South Korean media: Chinese TVs conquer the Japanese market with a first-time share of over 50%!

On October 5, South Korean media "Chosun Ilbo" published an article stating that Chinese companies' share in the Japanese television market has exceeded 50% for the first time.

According to a survey by market analysis company BCN, Hisense and TCL hold 41.1% and 9.7% of the market share respectively. The Regza brand acquired by Hisense from Toshiba holds 25.4% of the market share, while the TCL brand holds 15.7%.

Sharp holds 20.6% of the market share. Japanese companies Sony and Panasonic performed poorly, with market shares of 9.6% and 8.8% respectively.

"Asahi Shimbun" commented that last year's shipment of televisions in Japan was 4.486 million units. "The decline of Japanese companies is becoming increasingly obvious. Sharp faces pressure to re-evaluate its business, including possibly exiting the television market."

Television used to be the flagship product of Japanese electronics manufacturers. However, according to "Asahi Shimbun", as the quality gap between companies has almost disappeared, Chinese companies with price competitiveness have become a force that cannot be ignored.

Although Japanese companies still dominate the large refrigerator and drum washing machine markets, the gap between Japanese and foreign companies in the Japanese market is gradually narrowing under the impact of Chinese companies.
