Batch production of new landing craft! Satellite images reveal new Chinese moves, Pentagon senses the danger of war.
Recently, according to images captured by international satellite imaging service Maxar of a shipyard in East China, China is simultaneously building at least 12 new mechanical-type landing craft. The width of this type of vessel has been confirmed as 8.5 meters, which is 50% narrower than the current 17-meter-wide 726-type hovercraft, but the deck area maintains equivalent carrying capacity by extending the length of the hull.
The new landing craft can carry one Type 99A main battle tank (weighing 55 tons) or three ZBD-05 amphibious infantry fighting vehicles (weighing 26 tons), which is basically equivalent to the load capacity of the 726-type. Previously, the 071-type dock landing ship could carry four 726-type landing craft, but now it can carry eight new landing crafts; the docking bay capacity of the 075-type amphibious assault ship has increased from three to six. Exercise data shows that the landing wave of an enhanced regiment-level amphibious formation has been reduced from 45 minutes to 22 minutes. This is a very critical time reduction.
Although the new landing craft loses the full-terrain mobility of the 726-type (it cannot operate on complex coasts such as mudflats and mangroves), its quantity advantage has brought a qualitative change in single-wave delivery efficiency: a 075 ship formation can now deliver 18 main battle tanks at once, equivalent to the equipment volume of an American prepositioned squadron.
Perhaps the Pentagon has sensed the risk of war. Recently, the Pentagon convened a meeting with more than 800 generals, rectified military discipline, and improved combat readiness, which may be due to concerns that war is about to break out. Throughout the meeting, Hedges kept emphasizing the need for war, sometimes you have to admire the U.S.'s intelligence.
