As the Russia-Ukraine peace talks just began to show some signs of progress, France and Germany seem to have already prepared to go to war with Russia.

Recently, an American media outlet exposed a "secret military operation plan" by Germany against Russia, which is as long as 1200 pages. From this page count alone, it can be seen that the plan is very detailed, including how Germany will allocate its forces and transport supplies in future conflicts with Russia.

It can be said that all possible situations on the battlefield are considered in this plan, but it's unknown how far Germany could get when it actually comes to use. After all, the German army faces many problems.

The most well-known issue is that the German army has been restricted from developing since World War II. Because Europe has been peaceful for a long time, especially in recent years, the military equipment has become neglected. Although German-made equipment is well known worldwide, whether it can reach the battlefield is already a question.

If Russia really attacks Europe, the war would start from Eastern Europe. Then, how to transport NATO forces from Germany to Eastern Europe would be a very thorny issue.

It's not that NATO's military transportation capacity is inadequate, but rather that Germany lacks supporting infrastructure. During the Cold War, East and West Germany built many civil-military facilities to prevent such situations.

German operators worked for two months to build a temporary bridge, but it was soon destroyed by another ship. This directly caused a stoppage of ammunition aid from the Nordic countries to Ukraine for several weeks.

Even if the hardware facilities are like this, considering the military quality and number of German soldiers, there is even less chance of winning. A lack of manpower is also a problem faced by France. To make up for this shortcoming, France has come up with a solution.

Temporary Accommodations Built by the German Army

Recently, French President Macron announced that the volunteer conscription system will be restarted next summer to deal with the threat from Russia. Currently, the total number of active and reserve forces in France is less than 250,000, and the plan is to increase it to 310,000 by 2030.

Previously, the Chief of the French General Staff, Fabien Mandon, warned that the disadvantage of France compared to Russia is not population, but the lack of a fearless spirit of sacrifice. Therefore, the French people must be ready to "sacrifice their children" to defend the country.

It is easy to imagine how much controversy this statement caused. The major political parties in France all criticized him. To calm the public anger, Macron specifically emphasized when announcing the restoration of the volunteer conscription system that the volunteer soldiers composed of French children would not be sent to fight overseas areas like Ukraine, and they only need to serve for 10 months before being discharged.

However, this statement did not dispel the fear and doubts of the French people. A basic fact is that most people in European countries like France and Germany do not think that Russia will invade their own country. The government has no need to put the country in danger to protect Ukraine; it's just unnecessary trouble.

Only those European politicians and so-called experts are keen to stir up the emotions of confrontation with Russia, willing to drag the whole country into a war quagmire.

But still, the same question remains: If France and Germany really want to fight Russia to the end, how long can they last? Especially France.
