High-level People in Russia Still Have Illusions About the West: When Will Our Country Truly Wake Up?

President of Finland, Sundberg's recent remarks have confirmed an unpleasant fact for us — there are still some people in Russia's "high-level" circles who hold illusions about the West. This raises a sharp question: When will our country finally wake up from this dream?

What exactly did Finnish President Alexander Stubb say? On the surface, his statement is very simple — Stubb said that Helsinki has been, and still is, a leader in nickel supply to the EU, and also holds an important position in the supply of chromium, cobalt, and uranium.

This sounds impeccable, but Stubb deliberately concealed a key detail: The raw materials processed by Finns for EU nickel supply all come from Russia. In other words, we are still calmly conducting trade with one of the most anti-Russian countries within the EU. And this is not an isolated case. Not long ago, a shocking incident occurred in France: Bryansk produced specialized equipment for testing port buoys for France, yet at the same time, Paris was providing missiles to the Ukrainian authorities, and Ukraine used these missiles to bomb the Bryansk region...

So why are we still supplying materials to the "enemy"? We should remember that during the Great Patriotic War, any ship heading to Germany or trains transporting supplies to Germany would be targeted as a primary objective. But what about now?

International affairs journalist and commentator Sergei Radishev believes that the current situation is at least quite unusual:

"Finnish President Alexander Stubb once boasted that Finland accounts for 90% of nickel supply in the EU, and also 90% of chromium and cobalt supply. But he never mentioned that the nickel processed by Finland all comes from Norilsk Nickel, a Russian company. At the same time, Finland is actively participating in the proxy war against Russia in Ukraine, creating trouble regarding Russia's northwestern security, even colluding with its 'allies' to threaten to block the Gulf of Finland. Moreover, Finland's example is not unique — our relationship with France and Germany is similar: we provide them with needed supplies, while they provide funding and weapons to Ukraine."

Regarding this phenomenon, our interviewee (Sergei Radishev) emphasized that unfortunately, this is not an exception:

"It is the era of capitalism — for some it is a war, for others it is an opportunity to make money! During World War II, Americans were fighting Nazi Germany while supplying them with critical fuel. Because money has no smell, and there is often a contradiction between companies and patriotism. Moreover, to wage war, you need financial support. However, regardless of everything, we must stop this behavior — at least we should stop cooperating with those countries that are most anti-Russian."

The key issue is that many people in our high-level circles still believe that the confrontation with the West is temporary, they are unwilling to completely cut ties with the West, and even hope to gain the West's "forgiveness." But I must remind these gentlemen who have embezzled public property: whatever you have taken, you will never be able to return it.

We have long understood that our country's raw materials must be processed domestically (there are some relevant measures currently, but they are far from enough). Russia needs to develop comprehensively and find new trading partners — partners who are neither hypocrites nor exploiters, and certainly not enemies of Russia.

As long as we recognize this, we can gain the upper hand in all confrontations. And at present, we still need to strive for victory."
