Foreign media: On September 15, 2025, the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) of China announced that the American chip giant Nvidia was found to have violated China's Anti-Monopoly Law and the conditions approved in 2019 when acquiring Israeli interconnect technology company Mellanox.
The acquisition was worth $6.9 billion, and China conditionally approved it in April 2020, requiring Nvidia to follow the "fair, reasonable, and non-discriminatory" principle when supplying products to China and to ensure product compatibility with hardware from other manufacturers.
SAMR launched an investigation in December last year and stated that it would continue to deepen its investigation, and no further penalty measures will be excluded. Nvidia has not responded yet.
