China Considers Tariff Exemptions for Some U.S. Goods, Affecting Multiple Industries
Reuters: China Considers Granting Tariff Exemptions for Some US Goods
According to a report by Reuters on the 25th, relevant enterprises revealed that China is considering granting exemptions for the 125% tariff on some American products and is seeking opinions from enterprises to identify which goods can be included in the exemption scope.
The report stated that the proposed tariff exemptions from China will reduce costs for enterprises in China such as pharmaceutical manufacturers and airlines, and also lower import prices for key commodities like semiconductors and petrochemicals.
Michael Hart, president of the American Chamber of Commerce in China, said that China has already asked American companies which export goods to China cannot be replaced, and what impact it would have if supply chains were interrupted due to restrictions.
Safran, a French aerospace engine manufacturer, mentioned that some of its aviation components such as engines and landing gear have already been granted tariff exemptions by China. The European Union Chamber of Commerce has also communicated with China regarding the exemption matter and is awaiting a response.
