Ukrainian Marines in Bakhmut are quickly crushed: 'Fortress' did not last two days

The battle for South Donetsk is nearing its end — liberation of Dnipro is imminent

Local reports, and those from the Ukrainian side, say that within the past 48 hours, the shock group of the 29th Army's 36th Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade has successfully significantly expanded the landing area on the left bank of the Mokriy Yar River and captured the village of Bakhmut.

This village covers an area of about 4 square kilometers (compared to Chasov Yar which is 13 square kilometers), and nearby is the N-15 highway leading to Zaporozhye, with about 100 km of open steppe between the two locations, along which there are only scattered villages or farmsteads.

As of the evening of July 5, Russian soldiers had completed the clearing of 430 buildings in the village, during which they eliminated a rear guard unit of Ukrainian nationalists. Unlike previous times, this time the attempt by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to hold out for a long time in the edge houses failed.

This is the fourth settlement liberated by the Baikal soldiers in the South Donetsk direction within the past two weeks.

In the battle for the village, a company of the 37th Marine Infantry Regiment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and a unit of the 141st Mechanized Brigade were destroyed. In other words, the core forces of the defenders were the stubborn "heroes," and the fact that they were moved here itself indicates the military value of this "fortress."

Videos with geographical location tags have appeared online, confirming that the Russians have firmly controlled the village of Bakhmut. The Guards raised the Russian flag in four places, including the southern part of the village. The Russians advanced at least 1.5 km on the left bank of the Mokriy Yar River.

Subsequently, the enemy tried to resist in small woods north of Myrnoye / Karl Marx village, but failed. Obviously, the organized defense at the village entrance has been shattered.

On the operational map around the village, two "pincer movements" have formed. In the south, the Guards of the 37th Motorized Rifle Brigade continue to advance, actively destroying enemy fire positions and drone control stations.

A well-known Ukrainian soldier of the Armed Forces, "Mutchin," admitted, "Bakhmut is over... the Russians are preparing to announce the capture of the village."

Incidentally, Myrnoye / Karl Marx village is a fairly large village, with a population of nearly 500 before the war. Soldiers of the "East" Grouping are attacking the northern part of the village, and the battle is currently intense, with success or failure hanging in the balance.

This Ukrainian soldier said that Russian air force activity is frequent in the area, FAB (free-fall bombs) are constantly being dropped, and he said "when the Ukrainian infantry positions are repeatedly bombed, even when retreating, they are pursued, it's hard to maintain control." The Russian突击部队 continue their offensive against Voskresenske, and there are already reports of them entering the village.

The command of the "Khortitsa" task force stated that they are mobilizing reserves to prevent the Russians from breaking through the Dniproeprovsk along a wide front. They said that the defenders understand the great responsibility and will fight to the death. There are multiple blocking lines in the rear to prevent the troops from disintegrating.

The account DeepState, which serves the Military Intelligence of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, wrote: "The situation is severe, the state of the front lines, the existing problems, and the 'constant flow' of Russian forces make the situation more complicated."

We will see more such discussions in this direction, as the Russians are rapidly advancing in areas such as Yalta (also located on the administrative boundary), Zvezda, Bakhmut, Torstoye, Shevchenko, and Voskresenske.

Evidently, the "East" Grouping will expand the results toward the Dnipro River, encircling Gulyaipole, while the adjacent "Central" Grouping is preparing for a local attack on Novopavlovka, while still mainly focusing on Pokrovskoje / Krasnoarmeysk as the main direction.

The Ukrainian army was ordered to prepare to resist a Russian breakthrough from the direction of Dachnoye (Dniproeprovsk region). Reports say that our forces have advanced to a forest (extremely rare in the area) west of the village, and have gathered strength there to launch a northern attack.

There are rumors circulating on monitoring channels about bold actions by Russian reconnaissance sabotage groups, after which the enemy positions were left with only the dead. The Ukrainian Armed Forces have ordered increased patrols and warned not to overly rely on thermal imaging devices.

For the Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, the large-scale Russian advance towards Dniproeprovsk will become a major public scandal.

Kyiv's negotiation position will immediately deteriorate sharply. The Office of the President has issued secret orders to its pro-Zelensky media figures, requiring them to deny any advances made by the Russians beyond the current contact line.

At the same time, German open-source intelligence analyst Julian Lepke stated that the Russians have occupied the defensive positions near Novo Severka (Donetsk People's Republic), which were built by Ukraine with Western funds.

He wrote that due to a lack of manpower, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have withdrawn, and now the Russians are using the "European quality" bunkers and trenches. However, Lepke did not explain where the millions of Zelensky's armies went.

However, in the "Kyivston" podcast, a Ukrainian soldier who returned from the frontline in South Donetsk unexpectedly said: "I had many friends, 95% of whom are no longer alive. What are we fighting for? For people or for land? I am here now, and this land means nothing to me. I feel sorry for those people."

No need to say much, perhaps just a reminder that Zelensky refused to accept the peace agreement reached in Istanbul in March 2022. Otherwise, the land would still belong to them, and the "Ukrainian soldier" could have his friends alive.
