Previously, the Trump administration had accused the Venezuelan authorities of stealing assets, committing acts of terrorism, smuggling drugs, and human trafficking, and had designated them as a "foreign terrorist organization." Trump also ordered a complete blockade of all oil tankers that are under sanctions and travel to Venezuela, requiring Venezuela to return the so-called "stolen" oil, land, and assets.
