Foreign Media: China Strongly Opposes EU's Restrictions on Chinese Inverters, Warns of Retaliation
The European Commission recently announced a ban preventing EU financial institutions and cooperative banks from providing funding to clean energy projects using Chinese inverters, covering sectors such as solar power, wind energy, and energy storage batteries, applicable to all EU-funded projects both within and outside the EU.
China expressed strong opposition, stating that the EU’s designation of China as a "high-risk country" lacks substantial evidence and constitutes unfair discrimination. China will take action to safeguard the interests of Chinese enterprises and warned that this move would disrupt the stability of Sino-European industrial and supply chains, undermining the EU’s own energy security and green transition process.
According to a report by Wood Mackenzie, in the first half of 2025, Huawei and Sungrow Power ranked first and second globally among photovoltaic inverter manufacturers, surpassing Germany’s SMA and Austria’s Fronius.
