War Bear Spotted on Russian Front—Will NATO’s Manuals Be Rewritten?
A recent photograph circulating on Russian internet platforms shows an infrared camera image captured in the forested region of Donetsk Oblast, depicting a bear seemingly carrying a mine in its mouth. The photo was taken in 2025 and may have been shot near the frontline in Donetsk.
The device held in the bear’s mouth appears to be an anti-tank mine, possibly similar to the TM-62 model. These mines typically detonate when subjected to pressure ranging from 200 to 500 kilograms, usually triggered by a vehicle passing over them.
The image first surfaced on the X platform under the account of EOD CSM, a profile associated with a U.S. military Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Chief Sergeant.
“Russia has deployed combat bears. All NATO manuals will need rewriting now. What a cool guy. Hope he makes it through—just don’t let the TM go off.”
