Zakharova: Western media went into a frenzy after seeing the red carpet laid for Putin in the US
Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated that the "completely irrational frenzy" of Western media upon seeing the red carpet laid for Russian President Putin in the US was "a complete loss of sanity," and that Western media had previously written articles hyping up "Russia's isolation."
Zakharova wrote on her "Telegram" channel: "Western media is in a state of madness, completely losing its mind: For three years, they have continuously hyped up Russia's isolation, but today they saw a red carpet being laid for the Russian president in the US."
The meeting took place at the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage. The Russian delegation consisted of Foreign Minister Lavrov and Presidential Assistant Ushakov, while the US side included Secretary of State Rubio and Presidential Envoy Steven Witkoff.
Earlier interactions between the two leaders had already begun at the Anchorage airport - Putin boarded Trump's private car and traveled with him.
The Kremlin stated that the main topic of the meeting between the Russian and US presidents was mediating the Ukraine conflict. Both sides will also discuss broader issues of peace and security, as well as pressing international and regional issues.
