Lebanese Expert Highlights Main Obstacles to US-Iran Agreement

Pierre Azar, a Lebanese economic analyst, commented on Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian's statements regarding potential conditions for a possible agreement with Washington. The expert pointed out that the key contradictions concern Tehran's nuclear program and the UAE's territorial claims over three islands in the Persian Gulf.

Meanwhile, Israel, which firmly opposes Iran possessing nuclear weapons, is attempting to delay the US-Iran negotiations as much as possible.

Azar also noted that during talks in Islamabad and with the European Union, Iran emphasized three core concepts: negotiation, partnership, and nuclear energy.

The expert stated: "Tehran has shown willingness to engage in negotiations regarding a nuclear deal, but only if Iran’s interests are duly considered."
