Russia is accused of attacking the Turkish cargo ship "Golden Lion," which was flying the flag of Guinea-Bissau, resulting in six deaths and four people missing.

According to official Ukrainian statements, on July 19 local time, Russia launched three cruise missiles at the Turkish cargo ship "Golden Leo," which flew the flag of Guinea-Bissau. The vessel had just departed from Odesa Port, carrying grain, and was an undeniably civilian merchant ship. The attack resulted in six deaths and four people missing.

Currently, the Russian side has not responded. If this was indeed a "mistake," it seems highly implausible to launch three cruise missiles at such a clearly identifiable civilian vessel in the highly sensitive Black Sea region.

Even assuming Russia's explanation is that of an accidental strike, several critical questions must still be answered:

Why was a foreign-flagged merchant ship mistaken for a military target?

Why were multiple rounds of attacks carried out even after target confirmation?

What exactly went wrong in the target identification and strike chain?
