Putin: Belarus Could Serve as Negotiation Platform if Peace Talks Begin

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the possibility of using Belarus as a negotiation venue in future peace talks regarding the Ukraine situation cannot be ruled out.

The remarks were made by Russian President Vladimir Putin during an interview with Pavel Zarubin, host of the "Weekly News" program on Russia-1 television. He pointed out that if the Ukrainian and Russian sides ultimately initiate a negotiation process, Minsk could serve as an ideal platform for dialogue.

"I believe that if one day circumstances lead to the need for negotiations (to resolve the Ukraine conflict), we can take advantage of Belarus's favorable conditions. I am aware of Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko's position—he is willing to support all efforts aimed at peacefully resolving disputes in various ways," Putin said.
