Foreign Media: China's Electric Vehicle Exports Sweep the Globe, with the U.S. Almost Absent
According to Benchmark Mineral Intelligence data, in 2025, Chinese-made battery electric vehicles (BEVs) accounted for as high as 89.9% of the market in Mexico (sales of 53,742 units), 61.6% in Indonesia (64,252 units), 79.5% in Australia, 70.5% in New Zealand, 84.8% in Israel, 26% in the UK, 37% in Italy, and 35.9% in Spain.
The UK is China's largest overseas sales market for electric vehicles, with sales reaching 129,069 units; Germany followed with 87,650 units, and Australia with 82,147 units. However, due to tariffs and geopolitical factors, the share of Chinese-produced BEVs in the U.S. market is only 0.5% (6,070 units). Domestic sales in China are nearly 8 million units, far exceeding the total of all overseas markets combined.
