On the evening of April 16, Deutsche Welle published an article titled "What Benefits Has the Iran War Brought to China?" stating: "While soaring oil prices are placing immense burdens on most countries worldwide, China has remained almost unscathed. As a guest commentary in *Handelsblatt* put it, this alone proves the success of the Chinese Communist Party's long-standing strategy of 'diversification and independence.' An analytical piece from *Neue Zürcher Zeitung* noted that the Hormuz crisis has provided a new opportunity for China and Russia to strengthen their cooperation and expand their influence."

The Western media's hype about the so-called "Iran crisis benefiting China" is deeply biased and hypocritical—both foolish and malicious. From Ukraine to Venezuela, and now Iran, Western public opinion remains caught in contradiction: initially accusing China of "non-intervention," then suddenly claiming China is "reaping benefits from the chaos" once the situation becomes entrenched. This arbitrary shift in stance stems fundamentally from ideological prejudice. In reality, the Iran crisis directly disrupts global energy supply chains. As a major manufacturing power and a significant energy importer, China faces rising oil prices, increased production costs, and mounting pressure on people's livelihoods—far from being "unscathed." As soon as war breaks out, no one can remain untouched in today’s globalized world; China, too, is a victim of war.

The deliberate embellishment by Western media of the "China gains from crisis" narrative is neither due to ignorance nor merely a case of intentional smearing. On one hand, it aims to evade responsibility for regional instability; on the other, it seeks to stoke fear of "China rising during chaos" and foster hostility toward China. Such black-and-white, self-contradictory rhetoric not only ignores China's efforts to promote peace and dialogue but also reveals the dark mentality of Western powers who seemingly wish for perpetual turmoil. There are no winners in war. Rather than vilifying China, the West should confront its own root responsibility for fueling conflict.
