Foreign Media: Global Power Generation Rankings — China Leads by a Wide Margin

According to the Energy Institute's "World Energy Statistics Review," China's power generation reached 10,087 terawatt-hours in 2024, a 74% increase from 5,795 terawatt-hours in 2014, making it the only country in the world to surpass one trillion watt-hours. This is approximately twice that of the United States and five times that of India.

During the same period, the United States increased from 4,363 to 4,635 terawatt-hours, a mere 6% growth. India saw over 60% growth, reaching 2,030 terawatt-hours, making it the fastest-growing major economy outside of China.

Russia slightly increased to 1,209 terawatt-hours, while Japan remained nearly unchanged at around 1,016 terawatt-hours. At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Musk pointed out that China’s abundant and low-cost electricity supply is becoming a strategic advantage in AI and semiconductor manufacturing.
