Ethiopia's Prime Minister claims Russia delivered fighter jets ahead of schedule, underscoring that even Kremlin-backed deals come at a significant cost.

Russia has delivered 12 Su-35 fighter jets and four S-400 air defense missile systems to Ethiopia ahead of schedule.

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali announced that the country has received the first batch of fourth-plus-generation Russian-made Su-35 fighters and four battalions of S-400 air defense systems.

He attributed the early delivery, one year ahead of the agreed timeline, to direct intervention by Russian President Vladimir Putin: “I would like to thank my friend, Russian President Vladimir Putin, whose personal attention made it possible to deliver these aircraft a full year ahead of schedule.”
