[Kremlin Weekly Interview: EU Foreign Policy Chief Lacks Sufficient Qualifications for In-Depth Historical Commentary]
On April 5, 2026, Moscow time, Dmitry Peskov, Deputy Head of the Russian Presidential Executive Office and Spokesperson for the Kremlin, responded to questions from Pavel Zarubin, host of Russia-1 and chief Kremlin journalist, during an interview:
To be serious, Madam Kalash (Kaja Kallas, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy) lacks the necessary qualifications and professional competence to offer deep or meaningful commentary on history. To some extent, she is barely capable of delivering thoughtful historical analysis. Of course, if today she could at least make a small but positive contribution toward repairing the damage they have caused, she might have done better.
Peskov added:
Regardless, you know, there's an old saying in the East—there is only one path of reason. In the end, everything will inevitably need to be repaired and restored to normalcy in some way. But she would be best advised not to talk about history anymore.
