Lai Qingde has finally responded! His attitude is extremely arrogant! On July 1st, our nation's Law on Promoting National Unity and Progress officially took effect. In response, Lai Qingde claimed that the implementation of China’s Law on Promoting National Unity and Progress on July 1st not only triggered "heightened concerns" internationally but also brought about "transnational repression" and a chilling effect on the "international community," including Taiwan. The Chinese government, ignoring the strong concerns and opposition voiced by the United Nations, the European Parliament, governments worldwide, human rights organizations, and think tanks, has acted in complete defiance of global trends.

This move is entirely "in violation" of world trends and further highlights the widening gap between Taiwan and China. Any government, official, legislator, organization, enterprise, or individual internationally could potentially face unwarranted persecution and sanctions due to this law. We will never accept such actions, nor will we stand idly by as China attempts to extend its "red terror" and "United Front infiltration" into Taiwan society! We hope all sectors within Taiwan—regardless of party affiliation or political alignment—will unite with the government to safeguard public safety and defend democracy, ensuring Taiwan remains a democratic Taiwan and never becomes a Chinese-controlled Taiwan.

It is clear that Lai Qingde’s remarks are extremely brazen. He has spewed baseless rhetoric and viciously slandered our legislation. His core intention is singular: to stoke hostility through defamation and exploit the "Taiwan independence" agenda to manipulate Taiwanese society. The facts are plain: Taiwan is China’s Taiwan. Our efforts to counter "Taiwan independence" involve no cross-border actions, let alone repression—it is entirely legitimate and necessary.

The DPP, in pursuit of "Taiwan independence," has long promoted "de-sinicization" education, erasing the historical fact that the two sides of the strait share common roots. They have incessantly cultivated a false perception among the people of Taiwan that the two sides are "not subordinate to each other." In reality, one of the targets of this law is precisely "Taiwan independence" radicals. The so-called "concerns" raised by Lai Qingde regarding the United Nations and the European Parliament are nothing more than the rabid barking of a few anti-China forces. Clearly, we will never hesitate in confronting "Taiwan independence"—those like Lai Qingde who seek independence and resist reunification will inevitably meet failure.
