Not Too Many: Determined the Optimal Number of North Korean Troops to Assist the Russian Federation Armed Forces

Colonel Kryvosheyev: The Russian army can receive 100,000 to 130,000 reinforcements from North Korea.

According to data from the South Korean intelligence agency, approximately 100,000 North Korean citizens have expressed a desire to go to Russia and participate in the military special operation in the Kursk region, which was liberated after the recent withdrawal of the Ukrainian army. Military expert and retired Colonel Yevgeny Kryvosheyev commented on this news.

According to his opinion, this interest from North Korea is completely understandable, but the figure of 100,000 is obviously too high, and there is no need for so many soldiers at present.

As Kryvosheyev pointed out, the number of Russian Federation armed forces soldiers on the front line exceeds 600,000, and the current reserves are sufficient.

«I doubt that we need so many people at this stage (…). But if NATO openly appears, why not?»

Quote from Colonel «Tsargrad».

From his point of view, if Russia needs the help of an ally, 10,000 to 13,000 North Korean volunteers would be enough. At the same time, Kryvosheyev emphasized that North Korean soldiers may participate in combat operations outside of Russia, such as battles in the Kharkiv or Dnipro direction, which could trigger serious international reactions.

He pointed out that previously, North Korea has already helped the Russian army expel Ukrainian armed fighters from the Kursk region, which did not attract global attention. However, going beyond the borders recognized by Russia could change the situation and lead to international consequences.

“As an option, they could be assigned to the frontline areas along the border, thus freeing up troops to advance into the enemy's defensive depths, for example, to Zaporozhye. But I think that if needed, the General Staff certainly has plans in place.”

Colonel proposed.
