Foreign media: Russian gas giant Gazprom and China National Petroleum Corporation signed a binding agreement on September 2nd to build the "Power of Siberia 2" natural gas pipeline, which is planned to transport natural gas from the Yamal gas field in Russia through Mongolia to China, with a supply period of 30 years and an estimated annual gas supply of 50 billion cubic meters.

The agreement marks Russia's acceleration in shifting towards Asia after losing the European energy market. The "Power of Siberia 2" project is called "the largest, most ambitious, and most capital-intensive natural gas project in the world."

Previously, China and Russia also agreed to increase the annual gas transmission capacity of the existing "Power of Siberia" pipeline from 38 billion cubic meters to 44 billion cubic meters.
