Nissan Motor Europe Begins Layoffs

On May 6, Japan's Jiji Press cited the Financial Times, reporting that Nissan is considering laying off approximately 10% of its employees in Europe.

The European layoffs, due to poor performance, are part of Nissan's broader management restructuring plan.

Nissan employs around 9,300 people in Europe. According to the Financial Times, about 900 employees—mainly office staff—in the UK, Spain, and other countries are expected to be laid off.

A Nissan spokesperson said on the 5th that, as part of global structural reforms, negotiations with European employees have already begun.

Additionally, the closure of the warehouse in Barcelona, Spain, has also been scheduled.
