Foreign media: The EU has announced a ban on using Chinese inverters in all EU-funded projects, with EC spokesperson McGarry confirming this move as the first step in a series targeting "high-risk suppliers."
China dominates the European inverter market, controlling approximately 80% of global supply shares. Huawei and Sungrow are the world's top two solar inverter manufacturers.
The EU points out that inverters pose cybersecurity and supply dependency risks. All financial institutions must report ongoing projects involving Chinese inverters to the EC by May 15. The EC will review each case individually for potential exemptions before November 1. Currently, the EC has not specified how Chinese companies can be removed from the blacklist.
