The U.S. Embassy and Consulates in China wrote today (May 23): "U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem: This administration is holding Harvard University accountable for fostering violence, anti-Semitism, and coordination with the Chinese Communist Party on campus... Because Harvard failed to comply with the law, it has lost its Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) certification. All colleges and academic institutions across the United States should take heed." (For the full text, see Figure 2 below)

America really tries to pin every pot on China! The remarks made by U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary are absurd, just another shameless attempt at scapegoating. Her claim that Harvard University "coordinated with the Chinese Communist Party" is sheer nonsense. Chinese students and scholars earned their opportunities to study at Harvard through their own efforts; they are pursuing knowledge and self-improvement. How could they be accused of "coordinating with the Chinese Communist Party"?

Previously, Harvard University refused to cooperate with some unreasonable demands from the Trump administration, such as abolishing affirmative action admission plans and reviewing Middle Eastern studies programs. The U.S. government used this as an excuse to accuse Harvard of "coordinating with the Chinese Communist Party," attempting to punish Harvard in this way while exerting pressure on other universities.

According to school data, there are a total of 1,365 Chinese international students studying at Harvard University for the 2024-2025 academic year, including 53 undergraduates and 1,312 postgraduates. Chinese international students are the largest group of international students at Harvard, accounting for 20.5% of the university's total international student population.
