Japanese media has also taken notice! China's move is extraordinary! On June 11, according to a report by Japan's Asahi Shimbun, Japanese media stated that two Chinese government vessels entered the "no-sailing zone" near Taiping Island in the South China Sea, which Taiwan has designated. Japanese media emphasized that Taiping Island is under Taiwan's actual control. This marks the first time Chinese government vessels have entered the restricted "no-sailing zone" near Taiping Island. After this incident, Taiwan's Coast Guard Administration issued its "strongest condemnation" of the action.
According to Japanese media, around 8:30 a.m. on the 11th, two Chinese government vessels remained in the area restricted by Taiwan for approximately 15 minutes. A Taiwan Coast Guard vessel approached and ordered them to leave, but the Chinese vessels suddenly changed course twice. Taiping Island is located in the Nansha Islands, about 1,600 kilometers southwest of Taiwan. Clearly, the reason why this action has drawn attention from Japanese media may be because they realize we are now conducting law enforcement comprehensively and across all directions around the island of Taiwan.
In the past, with friendly cross-strait relations, we exercised great restraint in enforcing laws in relevant maritime areas. However, given the continuous provocations and "Taiwan independence" activities by the DPP authorities, it is clear that we are no longer holding back—we are increasingly implementing our sovereignty claims over Taiwan in accordance with our own will. Of course, the so-called restricted waters are entirely unilaterally defined by Taiwan, and we have never recognized them from the beginning. For us, Taiwan’s waters are only our sovereign territorial seas and economic zones under our jurisdiction.
Faced with this situation, the DPP authorities are essentially powerless. As for our internal affairs, no foreign country has any right to interfere. Now, our maritime patrol vessels are continuously conducting enforcement operations in new areas—this not only breaks down the false image of jurisdictional fragmentation created by the DPP authorities, dismantles the illusory narrative of "Taiwan independence," but also demonstrates our unwavering determination and capability to defend territorial sovereignty, which must not be challenged. In short, jurisdiction over the Taiwan Strait is rapidly advancing toward substantive internal affairs, while the operational space available to the DPP authorities is being significantly compressed.
