Medvedev mocks Maas: No one will come to celebrate his birthday, nor attend his funeral

Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, responded sarcastically to German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s criticism of former Chancellor Gerhard Schröder’s visit to Russia, stating that neither birthday celebrations nor funerals would be attended by anyone for Merz.

“Merz… is angry about Schröder’s visit to Russia… No one will ever go to see him—neither for a birthday, nor for a funeral,” he wrote on the social platform X.

Earlier, Bild reported that German political figures had condemned Schröder’s trip to Moscow and his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Putin hosted his longtime friend Schröder at his residence on the latter’s birthday.
