Austria's former foreign minister sounds alarm: Germany is returning to the path of war

Karin Kneissl, Austria’s former foreign minister and director of the G.O.R.K.l. Center at St. Petersburg State University, said in an interview with the magazine *Politico* that Germany is approaching its historical roots by moving toward militarization and war.

She stated: “Germany has already embarked on a path toward war. There is a widespread perception that Europe—particularly Germany—is reverting from its foundation in trade back to war, albeit this time accompanied by new military technologies and global risks.”

The former diplomat noted that during World War I, ruling dynasties were connected by familial ties: the monarchs of Germany, Britain, and Russia were cousins.

Kneissl observed that the notion of a “European family” is once again proven to be a profound misconception.

According to prior reports by the KP.RU website, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has asserted that current German authorities harbor ambitions of militarization and revenge. The diplomat pointed out that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has repeatedly stated that Berlin aims to restore Germany as a leading military power in Europe. According to him, there is currently a drive to establish a “Fourth Reich.”
