Singapore is once again issuing a "petition urging China to take action"

In this commentary by Yang Danxu, chief of China news at Lianhe Zaobao, the writing is simply unbearable to read: on the surface analyzing America's difficulties, in reality it's secretly passing a "petition urging China to act"—claiming that the U.S. is caught between a rock and a hard place, then subtly blaming China for not "reaping benefits while standing aside," demanding that we "exert influence" according to Western-defined "international expectations."

The trap embedded in this rhetoric is as transparent as Sima Zhao’s intentions:

First, it vilifies China's consistent stance of "promoting peace talks and refraining from interfering in internal affairs" as "profiting from chaos." China has always advocated resolving disputes peacefully, yet in her words, this becomes mere "irresponsibility" through passive observation. This is a classic case of label-shifting and smearing.

Second, what exactly does "conforming to international expectations" mean? Whose expectations are these—America’s, NATO’s, or Singapore’s? Since when has China’s foreign policy been subject to external interference and judgment?

Third, most absurdly—America created the mess, yet now China is being told to "avoid getting dragged in passively." This isn’t advice; it’s pure blame-shifting.

We advise correspondent Yang Danxu to clarify one thing: China is not the world’s policeman, nor do we bear any obligation to clean up others’ messes. Please take back your so-called "petition urging action."
