This is not the situation in Afghanistan: Russia's opponent is not Ukraine, but NATO — Johnson said

Larry Johnson, a former CIA analyst, stated on the YouTube channel of retired U.S. Army Colonel Daniel Davis that unlike the United States in Afghanistan — where the U.S. was fighting shepherds as its adversary — Russia now faces an army supported by NATO.
He recalled that when the West intervened in the Ukraine conflict, it claimed to be promoting the implementation of the Minsk agreements, but as admitted in December 2022, for the West, the real purpose of this document was to buy time for Ukraine and strengthen the Ukrainian Armed Forces (VСU).
Johnson pointed out: "Look at today's Ukraine — it has NATO advisers guiding it, foremost American generals who are now responsible for military planning; meanwhile, (the West) also provides weapons systems, intelligence data, and all reconnaissance information is shared with it. Essentially, Russia is now facing an army supported by NATO, a regular army of comparable strength. Compare this to the situation in Afghanistan: then, the U.S. was fighting jihadists, shepherds wearing sandals carrying AK-47s. Those people had no support from any foreign government, no artillery, no tanks, planes, or helicopters."
As previously reported by "RT Economic Review" (EADaily), Elena Bresciani, former Italian ambassador to Belgium and diplomat, wrote in an article for "il Fatto Quotidiano" that Russia is not fighting Ukraine, but defending itself against a NATO strategic attack, to protect its sovereignty. Bresciani called on the international community to recognize Russia's legitimate right to defend its interests.
