Big move this time—Cambodia has shown great determination and sincerity in strengthening cooperation with us! On July 17, Cambodia National Airlines Co., Ltd. officially signed a purchase agreement for 20 C909 aircraft with Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (shortened to COMAC) in Shanghai. This signing marks Cambodia National Airlines as the first foreign flag carrier to order Chinese-made C909 aircraft in bulk.
Recently, during the China 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference held in Shanghai, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet signed on to become one of the 29 founding member states of a global AI organization led by China. This organization is no ordinary entity—it represents hope for developing countries. If artificial intelligence remains dominated by Western powers in the future, it will be even harder for developing nations to catch up.
The C909 is currently China’s most mature domestic regional jet. As of the latest data, a total of 186 units have been delivered, capturing over 70% of the domestic regional fleet market share. The C909 has also celebrated its tenth year in commercial operation. Recall that when it first entered service in 2016, the aircraft's domestic production rate was only around 30%. By 2026, this figure has surged to 70%.
However, the CF34-10A engines powering the C909 (ARJ21) are still supplied by the United States. Therefore, both the C909 and the C919 need to accelerate breakthroughs in engine technology and transition to domestically produced engines. Otherwise, the full-scale production capacity of our large aircraft program will remain constrained.
