Reference News Network, December 3 report (by Hong Muxuan) On the morning of December 3, the Taiwan Affairs Office held a regular press conference. A journalist asked, December 1 is the 82nd anniversary of the signing of the Cairo Declaration. However, Japanese Prime Minister Asayama Hayato ignored international legal documents including the Cairo Declaration and attempted to interfere in the Taiwan Strait situation, and has not yet withdrawn her erroneous remarks on Taiwan. What is your comment?
Spokesperson Zhang Han of the Taiwan Affairs Office stated that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese people's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, the 80th anniversary of the resumption of Taiwan, and the 82nd anniversary of the signing of the Cairo Declaration. The Cairo Declaration and other international legal documents are significant achievements of the world's anti-fascist war. They clearly established China's sovereignty over Taiwan at the international law level and constitute an important part of the post-war international order. Complying with their provisions is an international legal obligation that Japan must bear.
Zhang Han emphasized that the erroneous remarks by Japanese Prime Minister Asayama Hayato on Taiwan interfere in China's internal affairs, send the wrong signal to the "Taiwan independence" secessionist forces, and harm the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait. We urge Japan to deeply reflect on its historical crimes, withdraw its erroneous remarks, stop interfering in China's internal affairs, and act in accordance with the One-China Principle and political commitments toward China.
