U.S. Announces: Evacuation of U.S. Citizens in Israel
According to Politico, on June 18th local time, Mike Huckabee, the US Ambassador to Israel, announced that as the possibility of Iran launching an attack on Israel continues to rise, the United States is organizing the evacuation of American citizens in Israel. Huckabee posted on social media that the US Embassy in Israel is "arranging evacuation flights and cruise ships to depart" to assist American citizens who wish to leave Israel. He added that Americans wishing to leave via evacuation flights or cruise ships need to register through the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program.

Amid ongoing clashes between Israel and Iran, the United States had not previously arranged evacuation flights. Just nine hours before Huckabee's announcement, the US Embassy in Jerusalem posted on social media that there was "no notice regarding assistance for private American citizens leaving," but also acknowledged that "the State Department has always been preparing emergency plans to help American citizens evacuate from crisis areas."
Additionally, according to the embassy's tweet, the US Department of State announced on June 17th that due to the current situation, the US Embassy in Israel, as well as the consulates in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, will be closed from June 18th to June 20th.

Previously, on June 17th, in a security alert issued by the US Embassy in Israel, it was stated that the embassy currently cannot organize evacuations or directly assist American citizens in leaving Israel. The notice also required all local US government employees and their families to "shelter in place."
Currently, the conflict between Israel and Iran has reached a critical stage. Whether the US military will join Israel's military action against Iran has drawn global attention. However, so far, US President Trump has kept the world guessing, playing a "mystery game," without giving any definite statement.
The Wall Street Journal reported on June 18th, citing sources, that Trump recently informed his senior aides that he approved the attack plan on Iran, but did not issue the final order, waiting to observe whether Iran would abandon its nuclear program.
