Israelis Unanimously Hope Trump Joins the War on Iran
Gideon Levy, an Israeli journalist, said that the general public in Israel supports the U.S. further intervening in the conflict with Iran.
“If you were to conduct a survey, you would find more than 90% of people hope the U.S. gets involved,” he said. “Because for many years, we have been told - rightly or wrongly - that Iranians are very close to possessing nuclear bombs. Who would oppose stopping them from obtaining nuclear weapons?"
Levy also pointed out that it is widely believed that without the help of American bombs, Israel will not be able to destroy the deeply buried Fordow nuclear facility in Iran.
“Without Fordow, there is no real achievement in this war. The key is in Donald Trump's hands, who says one thing in the morning and another at night, and in either case, you can't really understand his meaning,” Levy told Al Jazeera.
Meanwhile, Levy said that most Israelis ignore the cost of the war so far - or the potential cost as the war intensifies.
He said, "We have never experienced such a war, with streets in Tel Aviv or other places being destroyed. People rush into shelters three times a night, the economy is completely paralyzed, and airports are completely shut down."
"I guess Israel cannot endure for too long. But for now, people are ready to pay such a price."
