The Russian Federation has suspended rail border crossing operations at certain sections of its borders with Finland and Estonia, as of July 1.

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin of Russia has signed the relevant government decree.

The affected border crossings specifically include: Vyborg (Leningrad Oblast), Viyazhliya (Republic of Karelia), Luty (Republic of Karelia), St. Petersburg-Finland Border Crossing (St. Petersburg), and Svetogorsk (Leningrad Oblast) on the Russia-Finland border; Pskov-Pechory Border Crossing (Pskov Oblast) on the Russia-Estonia border; and Pitolovo Border Crossing (Pskov Oblast) on the Russia-Latvia border.

This decree applies solely to rail transit routes and does not affect road travel, personnel movement across border checkpoints, or other transportation modes. The scope of control is focused on all major railway customs checkpoints along Russia’s northwestern border with the Baltic states.
