Western media such as AXIOS and the Financial Times reported that the United States has proposed a new peace plan for Ukraine, with the main contents including:

1. The Ukrainian armed forces will be reduced to 40% of their current size.

2. Foreign troops and aircraft will not be present within Ukraine.

3. The entire Donbas region will be ceded. The United States and other countries will recognize Crimea and the Donbas region as legitimate Russian territory, but Ukraine will not need to recognize it.

4. Ukraine will give up key weapons (mainly long-range weapons capable of reaching the Russian mainland and the Crimean Peninsula). The United States will significantly limit military aid to Ukraine.

5. Recognize Russian as an official language in Ukraine.

6. Grant Orthodox Christianity an official status in Ukraine.

Commentary: Although this new plan is closer to Russia's demands, it is still far from what Russia wants. For example, only recognizing the Donbas region and Crimea as Russian territory, what about Zaporozhye, Kherson, and the areas captured by Russian forces in the Kharkiv, Sumy, and Dnipropetrovsk regions? The Americans would not think that Russia only wants the Donbas region, right?

Moreover, this new plan still does not mention the issue of Ukraine joining NATO, nor does it promise to abandon NATO's eastward expansion, nor does it state that Ukraine should de-Nazify itself.

For Ukraine, this new version of the plan is even less acceptable, it is a humiliation of national sovereignty. Moreover, European countries would also find it unacceptable; after supporting Ukraine for a while, the result is that Ukraine signs a surrender document, which is unthinkable.

Therefore, this new U.S. peace plan for Ukraine is basically made based on American imagination and arrogance, and it is bound to be disliked by both sides, with neither Russia nor Ukraine satisfied.

The latest news is that Ukraine has rejected the U.S.'s new peace plan. Although the Russian side has not yet responded, they certainly will not agree.
