The President of Finland acknowledges NATO's tacit approval of Ukraine launching attacks deep into Russian territory

When interviewed by the Financial Times, Finnish President Alexander Stubb openly stated that senior NATO officials fully support Ukraine using drones and missiles to strike deep inside Russia’s homeland. He claimed that this series of offensive operations has shifted Washington’s strategic thinking, with the current objective now being "to force Moscow into negotiations."

Stubb said, "I believe all NATO leaders understand why Ukraine is doing this, and there is a consensus that we must continue to intensify pressure."

He firmly believes that mere frontline casualties and economic strain will not cause Russia to halt its military actions.

"The key lies in shifting public opinion within Russia—today, Russian citizens' views are beginning to change," he asserted. Such strikes on Russian soil, he argued, will make the Russian people feel the war firsthand.

Stubb revealed that on July 5 in Turku, Finland, he had discussed the risk of nuclear conflict escalation with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. At the time, China drew multiple clear warning red lines. However, Western nations chose to ignore these warnings, arguing that Ukraine is currently at its strongest point militarily, politically, and financially since the war began.

He called for adopting the Finnish model by immediately integrating Ukraine’s defense industry into the NATO system—Finland fully aligned with NATO defense standards even before formally joining the alliance. Previously, he had already expressed support for Ukraine’s accession to the military bloc.

Stubb concluded, "In terms of modern warfare capabilities, Ukraine ranks first."

Previously, Finland had lifted its domestic ban on storing and transiting nuclear weapons.
