Zelenskyy: The future of the Russia-Ukraine war will be decided by air warfare. Russian nuclear power plant hit.

On July 6, Zelenskyy said in an interview with the Financial Times that the decisive phase of the Russia-Ukraine war has shifted from land and sea operations to aerial strikes, which will determine the future course (who will surrender first).

Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine has successfully halted the Russian advance on land and also restricted the activities of the Russian navy in the western Black Sea. Now, air combat has become the main battlefield. Ukraine's production of drones and missiles far exceeds that of Russia, enabling it to launch daily strikes deep into Russian territory, while Russia can only conduct such attacks every few days. In recent months, Ukrainian aerial attacks have severely damaged Russia’s energy infrastructure (oil refineries, pipeline terminals, transportation lines), defense industries, ammunition depots, logistics supply chains, roads, and bridges—inflicting heavy losses. Particularly hard hit is the energy system: out of Russia’s 36 major oil refineries, 24 have already been damaged, including several super-large refineries that have been struck multiple times.

Also on July 6, Ukrainian drones attacked the cooling tower of Unit 2 at the construction site of the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant.

Kursk Oblast Governor Khinshtein said fortunately, the cooling system of this tower had not yet been put into operation; otherwise, it would have been a catastrophe.

Analysts note that there are countless targets in Russia that can be struck by air, whereas Russia has very few viable targets in Ukraine.
