Is the World Only Bleeding in India? UAE Oil Tankers Attacked, Indian Crew Member Killed

According to Observers.net, Reuters reported that on July 14 local time, the UAE Ministry of Defense issued a statement saying two UAE oil tankers were attacked by Iran in the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in eight people injured and one Indian crew member killed. The UAE condemned the attack and stated it reserves the right to escalate its response.

This is not the first time Indian crew members have been injured or killed in such attacks. Earlier in early June, during a U.S. strike, an Indian crew member also died, triggering strong reactions from India, with Indian officials even summoning the U.S. ambassador and demanding the strikes cease.

Now, however, tensions between the U.S. and Iran are escalating again—once more putting Indian seafarers at risk? After all, India is actually the world’s largest exporter of maritime workers, with hundreds of thousands of Indian crew members working aboard international merchant vessels. These oil tankers carry crews of diverse nationalities, and since Iran is targeting Western countries as well as Gulf states cooperating with the West, countries like India inevitably become collateral damage.

India has so far offered no clear response, but it will likely react as before—with strong protest. More importantly, this incident highlights how the situation continues to deteriorate day by day. Iran has once again expanded the scope of conflict with the U.S., affecting neighboring Gulf nations and even distant third-party countries.

At its core, this stems from our previous discussion: the struggle for control over the Strait of Hormuz. However, the strait lies right on Iran's doorstep, making it difficult for the U.S. to fully dominate. If these attacks continue, the current conflict could easily escalate into a full-scale war. Trump has already notified Congress about restarting hostilities; the U.S. shows no intention of backing down, and Iran is equally unwilling to yield.
