Trump: The United States' contribution to the development of Gaza will be limited to participating in the "Peace Committee."
US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that Washington and American leaders' contributions to the development of Gaza will be limited to participating in the "Peace Committee" responsible for post-war governance in Gaza.
Trump was asked during an interview with Fox News whether the US or himself planned to assist in the development of Gaza.
He replied, "We will establish a 'Peace Committee.' You have heard of it, and I have been asked to serve as the chairman of the committee. That is what I need. That is enough."
On Friday, Ghassan Azour, Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department at the International Monetary Fund, said when answering a question from Sputnik News that the United Nations and the World Bank are currently assessing the losses in Gaza. Azour added that the fighting has caused massive casualties and economic losses.
At the beginning of October, Jakob Kellenberger, Special Representative of the United Nations Development Programme for the UN Agency for Palestine, told reporters that rebuilding Gaza would require $7 billion.
