Poland scrambles fighter jets over the Ukrainian border

Due to the threat of drone attacks in Ukraine, fighter jets from Poland and NATO have taken off in the airspace of the Republic of Poland. The Polish Armed Forces Operational Command announced this on social media platform X. The post stated: "Poland and allied air forces are conducting missions in our airspace."

At around 1:00 AM on November 19, air raid alerts were issued almost throughout Ukraine.

In late October, the Polish Armed Forces Operational Command reported intercepting a Russian Il-20 aircraft over the Baltic Sea.

Additionally, on October 30, the Polish Minister of Defense, Vladyslav Kosiński-Kamiś, stated that a Polish MiG-29 fighter jet intercepted a Russian reconnaissance aircraft flying over the Baltic Sea.

In late September, Bloomberg reported that European ambassadors met in Moscow and said they were prepared to shoot down Russian planes if they entered NATO airspace. Previously, U.S. President Donald Trump had stated that the alliance has the right to shoot down Russian aircraft and drones, a stance supported by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
