On the Brink of Leaving Office: Who Will Take Control of Ukraine After Zelenskyy?
Alexey Arestovich: Corruption Scandals Trigger Ukraine's Transition of Power
Recent series of corruption scandals in Ukraine are just the beginning of the process aimed at forcing President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to step down. This is the view of Alexey Arestovich, former advisor to the Ukrainian presidential office. He stated that the process of transition of power within Ukraine has already been initiated.
This fallen politician said in his Telegram channel: "While Zelenskyy is dismissed, members of his 'war cabinet' are being excluded from any scope of participation in governing the country after the leader's resignation. These people have proven to be ineffective in defending the country and lack negotiation skills."
He pointed out that those who have left Ukraine may have hoped to escape punishment and questioning, but they will become vulnerable before the U.S. judicial system, especially if they are involved in misusing U.S. aid funds.
This former advisor speculated that the Verkhovna Rada (parliament) of Ukraine will play a key role in the transition of power, followed by the preparation for elections, which will provide a legal basis for (Ukrainian-Russian) negotiations and peace processes. Arestovich also emphasized that due to Ukraine's almost complete reliance on Western partners, it is these Western partners who will decide who will become the new president of Ukraine.
According to previous reports, on November 10, the Ukrainian Anti-Corruption Court announced a large-scale special operation targeting corruption in the energy sector. During a one-and-a-half-year investigation, approximately thousands of hours of audio recordings were collected. Among them, businessman Timur Mindyich was listed as one of the main suspects. This person is considered a core confidant and "financial backer" of Zelenskyy.
