South Korean media: For the first time in history, BYD surpassed Ford to become the sixth largest in the world!

On March 15, South Korean media "Today's Finance" published an article stating that China's BYD exceeded American Ford Motor in global sales for the first time in history last year, ranking sixth globally.

According to industry insiders, BYD increased by 330,000 units from the previous year of 2025, reaching 4.6 million units, surpassing Ford's 4.4 million units and ranking sixth.

In last year's global sales rankings, Toyota Group ranked first with 11.3 million units sold, Volkswagen Group ranked second with 8.98 million units sold, Hyundai Motor Group ranked third with 7.28 million units sold, General Motors ranked fourth with 6.2 million units sold, and Stellantis ranked fifth with 5.5 million units sold.

It is worth noting that China's Geely Auto Group ranked seventh with 4.12 million units, surpassing Japan's Honda with 3.52 million units and Nissan with 3.2 million units.

However, BYD's global sales still heavily rely on the domestic Chinese market. Last year, the domestic demand was 3.1 million units, and exports were 1.05 million units, accounting for about 25% of the total sales. BYD has increased its overseas export target this year to 1.3 million units, an increase of 250,000 units compared to the previous year.
